WELCOME to the web site of the Cleveland Browns Backers of Jamestown, New York.
Jamestown is located about seventy miles Southwest of Buffalo, New York and about fifty miles east of Erie, Pennsylvania. It lies at the southern tip of Chautauqua Lake, and is the hometown of Lucille Ball, home to the Robert H. Jackson Center, the Roger Tory Peterson Institute, the Governor Reuben Fenton Historical Center the Lucy-Desi Museum, the Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, and the National Comedy Center. We are also located approximately fifteen miles from the World-Renowned Chautauqua Institution. Along with it's connections with Lucille Ball, Robert H. Jackson, Reuben Fenton, Roger Tory Peterson, Jamestown is also the hometown of Music's 10,000 Maniacs, singers Natalie Merchant and Jackson Rohm, actor Mitchell Anderson, many local published authors, and the city saw numerous MLB players who began their professional careers in Jamestown, including Hall of Famers Nellie Fox and Randy Johnson, and 1969 World Series MVP, Donn Clendenon. It is also the home town area of former Browns and current Bears Tight End, Stephen Carlson, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni, Chief Scout of the Kansas City Chiefs (formerly a Scout for our Browns) David Hinson, and former Cleveland Browns player, and a member of the Champion Philadelphia Eagles, Jim McCusker.
We enter our second season without our Viewing Establishment Host, Jeff Waddington, who has welcomed up for the past 12 years. So this year we are beginning a permanent annual season dedication, to those members who are watching the Browns, on a special soundproof cloud up in Heaven (it needs to be soundproof so they won't be asked to leave Heaven). We will dedicate each season from now on to those who have passed from our Sunday Family. This season we will dedicate the season to Jeff Waddington, our past 12 year host, Jack Knowlton, a dedicated Browns Fan and local fire first responder, John Miraglia, the founder of our chapter of the Browns Backers back in '99 until '10, and John Sorenson, one of our original members from the '99 season until his passing five years ago. These diehard Browns fans definitely bled Orange and Brown and we are proud to honor them and memorialize them going forward.
Our chapter of the Browns Backers Worldwide has approximately fifty members, and hopefully growing. We have participated in various fundraisers in order to make donations to numerous Browns and local charities and causes including the Browns Backers Foundation, St. Susan's Center, and a number of other groups. (See our Services page in this website.) Since 2005, out chapter has been responsible for more than $32,000.00 being donated to help various groups. We have also attended games together as a club. We meet at Waddington's Tavern, 344 W. Main St., Falconer, NY 14733, 716.665.6341 to watch the Browns and cheer them on each week. Many of our members are season ticket holders and attend home games, but there are still those who meet at Waddington's each week and we welcome new members and Browns Fans, and encourage people to join us each week to eat, drink, and cheer for the Orange and Brown.
